EVAN DAVIS HOSTS SBT UNLOCKING GROWTH EVENT

July 4th, 2017

Ambitious, sustainable social enterprise growth is focus of lively debate at SBT report launch

Evan Davis, presenter of Newsnight and Dragon’s Den, joined Social Business Trust today to launch our new report Unlocking Growth -The Insider’s Guide to Scaling Your Social Enterprise.

The launch event, a packed out gathering hosted by SBT business partner Permira, brought together leading social entrepreneurs and top business people to talk about what it takes to grow a social business successfully and sustainably.

See highlights from the launch event in our short video here.

Social enterprise and innovation expert Charles Leadbeater said that whilst mainstream business could learn from social enterprises, the social sector has a lot to learn from the commercial world about growth.

A fast-paced panel discussion, chaired by Evan, delivered honest, practical insights and advice from leading social entrepreneurs, including Oliver Lee OBE, CEO of The Challenge and June O’Sullivan MBE, CEO of London Early Years Foundation.

Fellow panellist, business expert and SBT Co-Founder, Sir Damon Buffini, urged social entrepreneurs to really understand their customers and focus on “what makes you successful – not what you think makes you successful,” to achieve “a hundred mile deep success rather than just going as broad as you possibly can.”

Adele Blakebrough MBE, CEO of SBT said: “It’s fantastic to have so much interest in our Unlocking Growth guide.  We hope it will inspire and encourage more great social enterprises to grow and help thousands more people in need.”

Unlocking Growth shares the key lessons learnt by SBT and the social enterprises we are supporting to grow, informed by the expertise of our eight world-class corporate partners, Thomson Reuters, Permira, IBM, EY, Credit Suisse, Clifford Chance, British Gas and Bain & Company.

Through case studies and top tips, we aim to provide practical experience for social entrepreneurs who want to grow their reach to help more people in need.
