How can ambitious social enterprises grow to multiply their impact? That’s the focus of Unlocking Growth -The Insider’s Guide to Scaling Your Social Enterprise, published by Social Business Trust (SBT) today.
Unlocking Growth shares the key lessons learnt by SBT and the social enterprises we are supporting to grow, informed by the expertise of our eight world-class corporate partners, Thomson Reuters, Permira, IBM, EY, Credit Suisse, Clifford Chance, British Gas and Bain & Company.
Through case studies and top tips from social entrepreneurs, we aim to provide practical experience for social entrepreneurs who want to grow their reach to help more people in need.
Adele Blakebrough MBE, CEO of SBT said: “We’ve partnered with 21 incredible social enterprises and between them they’ve grown to help over one million people since SBT began. But we can’t work with all the social businesses we meet.”
“That’s why we’ve produced this report to share what we’ve learnt together. We hope it will provide honest insights, encouragement and inspiration for all ambitious social entrepreneurs.”
On average, social enterprises in SBT’s portfolio have doubled their beneficiary numbers in their first two years working with us. Social integration enterprise The Challenge, which now works with 49,000 young people a year has achieved an average annual growth rate over five years of 70%.
The issues tackled by the social enterprises SBT works with are diverse, including educational disadvantage, elderly isolation, mental health and offender rehabilitation. What they have in common is an established, effective business model, an engaged management team and a keen ambition to achieve more.
