INVESTING IN HOPE, HEALTH AND HAPPINESS FOR EVERYONE IN RETAIL

July 1st, 2021

Social Business Trust (SBT) is thrilled to welcome the Retail Trust to the portfolio.

The Trust helps retailers care for the health and wellbeing of everyone in the retail sector via access to career-changing learning and development; financial, emotional and physical wellbeing services and supported-living estates. With the support of SBT and their corporate partners, the Retail Trust is set to double its social impact to ensure hundreds and thousands of people can access the wellbeing support they need as the retail sector continues to adapt in the wake of COVID-19. Bain and Permira are lead partners for this investment, with in-kind support valued at up to £600k. In addition, Paul Armstrong, Managing Director at Permira and Trustee of SBT has been appointed Investment Director of the Retail Trust, providing business advice and  support to the CEO and Board.

The Retail Trust represents the diverse and dynamic world of retail, putting people at the heart of everything it does. It knows the health and wellbeing of those working in the retail sector is critical to the ongoing success of retail. With professional expertise provided by the SBT corporate partners, the charity will accelerate the growth of its wellbeing services, develop a robust strategy and establish itself as a leading strategic wellbeing partner to the retail industry.

“In the 190-year history of the Retail Trust, the work we do to champion the health of everyone in retail has never been more relevant. Our vision is to ensure we can improve the health and wellbeing of every individual within the sector and the support of SBT will help us unlock the transformation required to do just that. We are incredibly excited to begin working with them on shaping the future of the Trust and the way the retail industry provides hope, health and happiness to all of its people.”

– Chris Brook-Carter, CEO, Retail Trust

“We know it has been a challenging time for the retail sector and the mental and physical health of its workers has been hugely affected as a result. We are delighted to be working with the Retail Trust to grow their impact and ensure that those who need it, get the support and care they deserve.”
